Book-must-read

Over a period of time, I have read and forgot lots of books, but there are some that I can't really get out of my mind. I'd like to share some with you. Yes, YOU!

"A good book has no ending."  ~R.D. Cumming

1. The Secret by Rhonda Bryne.

"All that we are is a result of what we have thought" - Buddha

The Secret is summarized in three words: Thoughts become things. That is, whatever it is that is constantly in your mind, it will take shape into reality. I learned about this book from my mentor and friend, River Artes, from Thailand. The book was released in 2006, based on the Law of Attraction and claims that positive thinking creates a life-changing result. Well, it is indeed true. Trust me.

2. The Long Road to Freedom by Nelson Mandela.

“The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.”

This is an autobiography written by Nelson Mandela himself. The book profiles his early life, coming of age, education and 27 years in prison. It took a while before I enjoy this book, but after I reached the middle part, I didn't want to put it down. It's a story of a great man. He's a political hero whose lifelong dedication is to fight racial oppression in South Africa. He defines conviction.

Sino sila Ciriaco, Procopio, Espiridiona, Troadio at Maxima? Paano makipagkaibigan sa bangaw?"
The first book I got though it's already his second. It talks about the culture of the Pinoys. His quotes are hilarious. I remember giving this to my teacher in Social Science and she even used it as her teaching reference. Evidently, this book has substance.

4. The Pursuit of Happyness by Chris Gardner

"You got a dream... You gotta protect it. People can't do somethin' themselves, they wanna tell you you can't do it. If you want somethin', go get it. Period."

After I watch the 2006 movie of Will Smith, I told myself to get a copy of this book. This is about the story of Christopher Gardner, a struggling salesman, who experienced trials and tribulation before becoming successful in life. I like this book because it presented the steps that Chris took to become successful.

5. The Art of War by Zun Tsu

"The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting."

This book is one of the greatest military literature ever told. It  was written some 2005 years ago but the strategies and teachings have never been outdated. We can make use a few of these teachings every day.

6. The Power of Focus by Jack Canfield et. al.

“There are essentially two things that will make you wise -- the books you read and the people you meet.”

This book reveals the proven techniques thousands of people have used to attain all of the money they wanted while living healthy, happy and balanced lives. This book has easy reading styles, cartoons, anecdotes and plenty of advice that could easily apply.

7. The Diary of A Wimpy Kid by Jeff Kinney

Greg, a self-confessed “indoor person,” is living out his ultimate summer fantasy: no responsibilities and no rules. But Greg’s mom has a different vision for an ideal summer . . . one packed with outdoor activities and “family togetherness.”

This book is really hilarious! It is a kids' book that adults can really enjoy.

8. Trump 101: The Way to Success by Donald Trump

"As long as you’re going to be thinking anyway, think big."

Trump himself becomes your personal mentor and coach as he shares tips, tactics, and strategies, all designed to help you make the most of yourself, your career, and your life. His approach is  tough and direct. His advices are incredible.

9. The Best of This is a Crazy Planets by Lourd de Veyra

"Dahil sa mundong pataas nang pataas ang stress levels, dala ng banta ng climate change, kriminalidad, trapik, polusyon. Wala nang mas nakakakulo ng dugo kesa sa isang taong hindi umaasal nang ayon sa kagandahan."
-Umasal Lamang Nang Ayon Sa Ganda-

This book is a compilation of his best blog entries in SPOT.ph which mirrors Pinoy cultures that are both hilarious and endearing. It views some

Pinoy's stupid behaviors that everybody is aware of, yet tends to ignore.

10. The Success Principles: How to Get From Where You Are to Where You Want to Be by Jack Canfield

"If you keep on doing what you've always done, you'll keep getting what you've always got."

This is an excellent book for people who wants to attain a higher level in life. The book is packed with quotations, advice, and teachings that can boost self esteem to the maximum level. His approach is simple but the impact is exceptional!
